January SEO Tip: Debunking Pervasive SEO Myths

More often than not, the following SEO tactics come up in conversation, but really, they do little to help with overall rank and traffic. I’m not sure why these tactics continue to perpetuate the minds of some business owners, but it’s time we put them to rest and move forward with real, working solutions.

Debunking Myth #1: Multiple Domains will drive even more traffic!

Very little of this is true. It sounds helpful, but it isn’t. It’s more of a time consuming issue that it is a highly sought after tactic. Focus on building value into your money site, you’ll be much happier with the results.

Debunking Myth #2: Submitting to the Search Engines Often.

Once your site is crawled and indexed, you can be sure that Google will revisit you. In fact, if you’re constantly resubmitting your site, you run the risk of raising a red flag!

Debunking Myth #3: The Right Meta Data Will Lead to Higher Ranking.

While I will agree that meta data does have some importance in your SEO strategy, it shouldn’t be your biggest priority. This is especially true when talking about rank. Don’t rely solely on packing your meta data with keywords and long, drawn-out descriptions — this is not a strategy that will lead to the streets paved in conversions.
