2022 Facebook Update: Big Changes at Meta with Job Postings

Beginning this week, Meta (Facebook) will be making some changes to their Facebook Jobs offerings.  The job openings we post will now only appear on your Facebook page itself. Job seekers used to be able search for and find jobs throughout Facebook and within the Marketplace; now, they’ll need to navigate to your company’s individual Facebook page and view your wall to find job openings and apply.

Job Postings will now post to your Facebook business page the same as any other organic post. Increasing visibility of these job posts to people who do not already follow your page will need to be done through boosted posts or ads. This is not an ideal situation and we predict that views and applications to these jobs will decrease once this change takes effect. However, as more information becomes available we will determine its value.

In addition, job applications will be managed through your pages’ Messenger and Manage Jobs section. It is unclear at this time if there will be a capability to email applications to email addresses outside of Facebook. We will monitor this and update you once we know more.

This change seems like a move to monetize a growing part of Facebook’s product set. Businesses will now need to pay for ads or boosted posts in order to show their job to a wider audience. We currently assist many of our clients with free and paid recruitment posts on Facebook and Instagram, and it is disappointing that this free option is going away.

We will keep you up to date as these changes rollout.  For now, we will continue posting and refreshing job openings as we normally do and alert you of any changes in the way applications need to be handled. We will monitor views on job posts and application volume and provide updates and recommendations once we can compare data.
